the untimely death of justice

Friends, come gather 'round and listen to my story.

It's a story of great gain and great loss. Great pain and double cross.
Of artists - friends - brothers and sisters - pioneers of truth, trailblazers, proverbial space cowboys, if you will.

The game began in the name of fun. That's the best i can explain it. To go further into the 'why' and the 'how' is irrelevant for the simple fact that we don't care. We did it because we could. We did it because it was there to do.

I can tell you when it was. For this it should be noted how fast events turned to judgments, and how quickly those turned into actions taken. Without much thought, it began, April 1st. And how appropriate a date. It formed in a day, took hold in a week, and became what it is today. We just gave it a name. "The Quest for Peace".

The events that happened next are numerous and extensive. The support for the cause was dizzying. My fellow freedom fighters are far too plentiful to list. Each doing their bit for what they believed to be right. There are two that I would like to extend acknowledgment to for their dedication and ultimate sacrifice.

Josh Engel and Dirk Erik Schulz. I could never have more respect for an artist than I have for these two men. What they accomplished in so short a time is staggering. The cost of their idealism was equally shocking. In short, they were censored, banned, and effectively silenced in the deviantArt community.

A light has gone out. A light that represented the living truth ... the eternal truths, reminding us of the right path, drawing us from error, taking this ancient country to freedom. -Nehru wrote this of Gandhi in a eulogy. Fitting to the bitter end.

And now what, friends? This is our never ending story. The infinite page. The endless frontier. We have taken our first casualties. It's time to take up the cup and continue the race in the name of our fallen. I want to say I was brave enough.That I was strong enough. That I believed. That I was around in the time of Engel and Schulz. That I was around during the Quest for Peace.
